A Yoga-Inspired Life: A Word for 2025

Do you choose a word or theme for the year? I have for the past five or so years, + while I don't always stick to them, they usually help guide me to what I'm looking for. Last year was all about PLAY - trying new things, embracing my inner child, + looking on the lighter side of life. 

This year, I'm looking for more MAGIC, both in the witchy/spiritual context, + in the everyday moments that make life special. As a youngster I was obsessed with all things magical - unicorns, dragons, Hogwarts, Arthurian legend, Disney... you name it, I was there. I wanted to believe that life was bigger than the mundanities of school/work. But as an adult, I found myself sucked into that world myself.

Fortunately, working with children + then having my minibeast has helped me refind that lust for magic, + in 2025 I'm immersing myself in it. Right now, that looks like:

reading fantasy/witchy/children's books

re-watching old favourite TV shows (Moomins, Scooby Doo, + The Magic Sword are big hits with my little one)

Pulling oracle cards before my work day (when I can) to connect with my intuition

Making my yoga routine more intentional (props, candles, fairylights, music)

Playing wholeheartedly with Charlie - no embarrassment, plenty of silly singing + dancing + making up stories.

Exploring creativity - seeing something transform IS magical

Following the moon cycle

I'm also bringing in magic daily by choosing an intention each morning that reflects what I need - whether that's SOOTHING, ENERGY, or CONFIDENCE. I stir it into my morning drink, + let it lead my yoga flows. Sometimes I'll journal or meditate on it too. I've previously struggled with self-doubt, + these simple changes show me that I do know what I need, + can trust myself.  

As for TinyBugs... who knows where the year will take us? I'll be taking my YTT training, so expect some classes for grown ups coming your way. I'd love to celebrate the Wheel of the Year with you + your little ones through yoga, + I'm hoping to find ways to collaborate with fellow magical small businesses - tarot themed family yoga, anyone??? With MAGIC to guide me, I'm excited to see what adventures the year holds!

MAGIC may feel like a whimsical theme for the year, but it's adding joy + light to my life, so expect to see it translating over here too!
